Forgotten for 6 months: QC bettor discovers ₱57-M Mega Lotto jackpot in bag

A longtime lotto enthusiast from Quezon City unknowingly carried a life-changing fortune in his bag for over six months — a Mega Lotto 6/45 ticket worth ₱57,030,072.20.

The private employee, now in his late 40s, has been religiously betting since 1997 using three sets of personal number combinations. On January 1, 2025, he purchased his usual entries at a lotto outlet in Quezon City and, just for fun, added one Lucky Pick.

As with all his previous tickets, he placed them in his bag — where they stayed, unchecked and forgotten among older stubs.

It wasn’t until July 11, 2025 that he decided to sift through his stack of tickets and check them online. Some matched three numbers, but one ticket made his hands shake.

“I instantly recognized the numbers. I stayed quiet for a while, double-checked online, and that’s when I realized I had the winning combination.”

The winning numbers — 06-41-29-12-02-15 — came not from his usual combinations, but from the Lucky Pick he added on a whim.

Now a certified millionaire, the bettor says he plans to use the prize money to pay off debts and secure the future of his college-aged children. He hasn’t told his family yet, saying he wants to surprise them “at the right time.”

“Thank you, PCSO, for this life-changing blessing. This is the answer to our prayers,” he said.

Claiming a Lotto Jackpot

To claim winnings, the original signed ticket and two valid government-issued IDs are required. Under the TRAIN Law, a 20% tax is deducted from prizes exceeding ₱10,000.

Winners have one year from the draw date to claim their prize. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited and go to the PCSO Charity Fund, which supports various health and welfare initiatives.
